Professional Development

The Chair Academy is dedicated to delivering exemplary leadership development. The Academy has offered world-class, competency-based, leadership development programs for college and university leaders since 1992. Leadership programs are offered at the organizational, state, regional, national, and international level. The Annual International Leadership Conference attracts leaders from around the world to experience distinguished keynote speakers and presentations. The Academy's referred journal is respected as a source of inspiration and best practices in leadership.

The Academy for Leadership Development welcomes you to join us in Orlando, Florida, November 10-15, 2013, for a yearlong leadership development program, designed and delivered by The Chair Academy. The Chair Academy has worked with post-secondary and organizational leaders for the past 22 years, enhancing and expanding all levels of leadership knowledge and skills, and graduating more than 8,000 participants. This leadership development journey includes two 5-day residential sessions, an Individual Professional Development Plan, Practicum, Mentoring, and Coaching, and is limited to 60 participants per program. The conversations, surveys, and resources experienced in the Leadership Academy focus on identifying and building individual leadership skills, connecting individuals to teams, and equipping individuals and teams to become better change agents within their organizations. This Academy closes with a Graduation Ceremony at the conclusion of the second session in 2014.

There is no specific prerequisite to attend the Leadership Academy; however, this program is designed for chairs, deans, or other organizational leaders who want to build and broaden their leadership experience and knowledge.  This Academy is designed to enhance your skill set for your present position, as well as provide training and development for those who aspire to expand their leadership roles and responsibilities in post-secondary organizations.
