Association of Florida Colleges Foundation, Inc.

The Association of Florida Colleges Foundation, Inc. is a 501C(3) charitable corporation formed on June 4, 1991. The AFC Foundation, Inc. provides charitable and educational financial support to the Association of Florida Colleges, its members and institutions. Some of these have included:

  • Facilitating the purchase of the first permanent home for the AFC in Tallahassee
  • Coordinating fundraising events with the involvement of AFC chapters, regions, and commissions for the construction of the first AFC building
  • Providing resources for the renovations and maintenance of the Association building
  • Providing resources and support to colleges which suffered losses during hurricane and other catastrophic events
  • Supporting annual convention events and other activities of the Association
  • Providing professional development scholarships to members 

Professional Development Scholarships

Annually the AFC Foundation awards members professional development scholarships up to $300.  The scholarship funds may be used for participation in any AFC professional development event including the Leadership Conference, Membership Conference, Annual Convention, and Commission and Chapter educational events. AFC Building Capital Fund - Burst the Balloon

In 2005, the AFC purchased an office building in downtown Tallahassee, one block from the Capitol. The building houses the AFC, the Florida College System Activities Association and numerous attorneys and lobbying firms.  The building also provides a suite of office spaces for colleges to utilize when their president or governmental relations staff are in Tallahassee conducting business. The "Burst the Balloon" Campaign was established in 2011 as a means of targeted giving to help raise funds to apply to reducing the mortgage on the AFC Building.
