Welcome from the 2023 Faculty Commission

As the new Chair of the Faculty Commission for AFC, I am excited about this opportunity to serve our faculty commission members in 2023.

This year we will grow a collaborative connection with all faculty within the great 28 Florida colleges. Faculty are essential to providing the best learning experiences for students throughout Florida. The faculty commission will provide symposiums for professional development and increase network opportunities between Florida colleges. Also, the faculty commission will be attending all five region conferences in 2023 to help strengthen our connection with the AFC family.

Please save the date for the Region V Conference hosted with Faculty and Technology Commission on April 14, 2023 at Palm Beach State College, Lake Worth Campus.

The Unknown Unknowns of Crisis Preparation

We live in an age today when a crisis is around the corner. Random shootings. Hurricanes. Terrorism. Pandemics. And more. We deal with the possibility of crisis every day, even if we aren't thinking about it. Dr. Carrie Root spent 30+ years working in the Washington, DC area. She has experienced many events that have changed her views about preparation and planning including the Anthrax scare, the DC shooters, 9/11, paralyzing dumps of snow fall, and other natural disasters. Dr. Root will share how her perceptions have changed about being prepared for a crisis, and participants will learn how to prepare and plan for the unexpected in the professional and personal realm of their lives. Register in advance for this workshop.  After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar.
