WHAT WE DOThe objective of the Workforce, Adult, and Continuing Education Commission includes providing participation in all areas related to workforce and adult education programs and practices. We are a resource network to help faculty, administrators, and support staff to stay abreast of workforce and adult related issues as well as best practices. Welcome - A Message from the 2022 ChairThank you for visiting the Workforce, Adult & Continuing Education Commission Page! My name is Steven Crudup, Chair of the Commission for 2022. In my day-to-day life, I am the Assistant Dean for Post Secondary Adult Vocational and Workforce Programs at Hillsborough Community College where I work primarily with our Ybor City Training Center. We provide opportunities for students interested in Automotive Services, Collision, Diesel, Heavy Equipment, and Welding. We also house the HCC Fire Academy and serve as one of the training facilities for HCC’s Law Enforcement and Corrections Academies, as well as ongoing training for local law enforcement. Our staff also supports Apprenticeships throughout Hillsborough County in a range of construction and electrical fields, as well as trains those interested in careers in security, private investigation, bail bonds, and process server. My philosophy is that WACE is a home for any and all programs that provide “direct to work” education. We have an extremely broad view of education and the members of our commission and Board represent a wide range of programs and backgrounds. If you aren’t sure if you “fit”, come to one of our virtual or in-person events and find out. Even if you’re just interested in learning about a topic for fun, we encourage you to attend. In 2022, my main goal for WACE is to continue providing quality and timely professional development opportunities for our members. With our virtual Lunch & Learn events, we hope to encourage regular conversations with the network of your peers in the State, as well as bring in some ideas that may help you in your job. We also look forward to providing some new opportunities for networking within affinity groups to help build or reinforce some of those connections that may have been lost while we’ve been living in the virtual world in the last few years. All in all, we hope you take the opportunity to engage with us as an active part of your AFC membership! If we can help in any way, please reach out.
