BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Deborah Posner serves as the Associate Vice President of Institutional Planning and Effectiveness, overseeing the strategic planning and assessment cycle for all administrative and academic programs at Broward College (BC). BC serves over 65,000 students at four major campuses and about a dozen centers across South Florida and internationally. BC was recently named one of the Top 3 community colleges in the country by the Aspen Institute. Dr. Posner holds an MBA and an Ed.D. in higher education leadership, and has over 20 years of experience as a researcher and educator.  She is a seasoned public speaker, having presented at numerous national conferences, including AACC, ACCT, ATD, SACSCOC, TASS, and more. Previously she taught mathematics as a college professor and high school teacher. Dr. Posner has also worked in the private and government sectors as a senior business analyst, project manager, and consultant. She holds a Black Belt in Lean Six Sigma, and leads process improvement and change management efforts at BC with the help of the nearly 200 employees whom she has certified as White Belts, serving as 'Champions of Continuous Improvement'.

Description: This session covers the basics of the Lean Six Sigma methodology for process improvement and performance excellence as practiced by many Fortune 500 Corporations. Lean Six Sigma is used to foster a culture of continuous improvement (Kaizen) for organizations to reduce waste, while increasing efficiency, value, and quality. The presenter of this workshop is a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, and will share how she has successfully integrated this framework to enhance institutional effectiveness within higher education. Participants will have an opportunity for hands-on practice applying a Lean Six Sigma tool, and will learn the fundamentals for supporting process improvement projects at their institution through the proven steps of DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control). Upon passing the online exam with at least an 80% after this session, participants will receive a frameable certificate and digital badge to display their new credential.
