BIOGRAPHY
Tom Mason started working at Santa Fe College in 1998 as adjunct ESOL Instructor. He is now the Advisor for Santa Fe College’s Construction and Technical Programs. Tom has long specialized in serving at-risk student populations and enjoys the challenges of preparing today’s adult learners for the 21st Century workforce. Tom has been active in his local AFC chapter for over ten years and is currently Chapter Past President and Vice President for Regions and Chapters.


Presentation 1: Exploring Options in College

Date Presented: I have been presenting this to College Success classes a dozen times a year for over ten years

Description: This presentation engages students to think about what they are doing on college and how to line up their interests with a program so they can be successful in college and in life. The presentation includes audience participation.


Presentation 2: Servant Leadership

Date Presented:  2012 AFC Annual Conference, Innisbrook and 2017 Region III Conference EFSC

Description: Servant Leadership is leadership from a different vantage point, where the leader is someone who encourages, inspires, and supports those around him/her. Presenter will provide an interactive servant leadership discussion which will explore all aspects its development, use and implementation. 


Presentation 3: Recruiting Career and Technical Education Students

Description: There is a great deal of pressure on Career and Technical Education in the state of Florida to recruit, enroll and retain students until graduation and then have them enter the careers for which they are trained.


Presentation 4: Making a Good Impression Starts Now

Length: 45 Minutes

Date Presented: I have been presenting this a dozen times per year for five years to Life and Career Development Classes.

Description: College is much more than books and classes. This interactive presentation focuses on all the things outside of classes that college students need to focus on to get prepared to their lives after college.


TECHNOLOGY NEEDS:  I use a laptop w/ access to internet (but can do w/o) and a projector/screen.
