St. Johns River State College nursing students excel

Orange Park St. Johns River State College nursing students for the seventh consecutive year have surpassed the state and national passing rates for the Registered Nurse licensure exam.They boasted a 94.12 percent passing rate for 2016, according to college officials.
The 2016 national average passing rate for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) is 84.57 percent. The state average for 2015 was 72.02 percent, officials said.

“We are proud of our outstanding graduates, dedicated faculty and the clinical affiliates who work in collaboration to prepare the next generation of nurses to serve our local workforce,” said Mary Anne Laney, the college’s dean of Nursing and Allied Health.

Recently, 98 nursing students graduated, said Susan Kessler, college public relations and publications director.

The college offers the nursing program at its Orange Park and Palatka campuses.

The Licensed Practical Nurse Bridge to Associate of Science Nursing degree program is offered at the St. Augustine campus.

The Associate of Science degree in Nursing program is approved by the Florida Board of Nursing and is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).
